John Thomas Buckingham & AT Ward (Buckingham & Ward Motors) formed in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1930, to make cars and trucks.  The first car was to be named Hamard Six but was finally called the Buckingham instead, with the prototype made in 1933, the same year they took over Humble (foundry) to cast engines. By 1935 production of Buckingham cars had not been realised.

JT Buckingham made a further attempt to built cars this time with Pengana Motor Industries Limited of Melbourne, Victoria in 1937 - influenced by the Bounty Act; (alleged) option to import USA Hupmobile plant; as well as a site for manufacture; but by 1939 no cars were made.

In 1947, The People's Car Limited was formed with JT Buckingham as a director. In a newspaper article was talk of the  May and Millars Foundry in Horsham, Victoria building an engine block for The People's Car.
