It qualifies as Australian if one or more components - body/engine/chassis were either prototype, designed, built, assembled, manufactured or made for use, only in Australia, (we also adopted a few New Zealand cars as Australian!). Solar Spirit Australia was a 2011 South Australian TAFE (Technical and Further Education) entrant in the World Solar Challenge a race from Darwin to Adelaide, a distance of over 3000 kilometres.
