This web-site presents the Ivan Hoffmann Collection of research materials about Australian Automobiles - clippings, brochures, diagrams, photos, articles etc., from early days until more recent. It qualifies as Australian if one or more components - body/engine/chassis were either prototype, designed, built, assembled, manufactured or made for use, only in Australia, (we also adopted a few New Zealand cars as Australian!). Besst

Besst were assembled in Adelaide, South Australia by May Motors Works Limited from 1926 until 1927, only five were made, with components from Crow-Elkhart Corporation (Indiana, USA) being used.

The slogan for Besst was "There is no better than the Besst".

Also part of the Ivan Hoffmann Collection, but not appearing here, are - an Agreement dated 27 August 1913 between GM May and FA D'Arenberg; article dated 15 March 1913 appearing in the Chronicle (newspaper); article dated 15 June 1916 appearing in Barrier Miner (newspaper); items appearing in South Australian Motor Cars 1881...1942 by George Brooks and Ivan Hoffmann.
