It qualifies as Australian if one or more components - body/engine/chassis were either prototype, designed, built, assembled, manufactured or made for use, only in Australia, (we also adopted a few New Zealand cars as Australian!). Austral Otis

Austral Otis Enginering Co. operated in Melbourne, Victoria and won the tender to produce two steam traction engines for the Victorian Government which were delivered in 1909. Also see Bottrill Road-Train / Big Lizzie post. Otis is still known as an elevator manufacturer in Australia.
