Land Rover was a model of the British marque Rover cars in 1948 and was a British marque from 1978 [Land Rover being owned consecutively by Rover, Leyland, Land Rover*, BMW, Ford, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR)].
Some Land Rovers were assembled in Sydney (in the suburbs of Enfield and Liverpool), New South Wales from the 1960's until the 1990's.
Also, in the 1970's a Land Rover "Train" was constructed to ferry people across the causeway between Granite Island and the mainland of South Australia and was in use until 1986.
