The HV McKay Harvester Company formed in 1886; HV McKay Pty Ltd in 1921; HV McKay Massey Harris Pty Ltd in 1930; Massey Harris Ferguson in 1955 and Massey-Ferguson (Australian) Ltd in 1958. Massey-Harris joined a conglomerate to form Canada Cycle and Motor Company, who as well as bicycles, built Quadricycle & Russell cars, some of which ended up in Australia from Canada.
HV McKay was from the suburb of Sunshine, in Melbourne, Victoria and made agricultural machinery (he invented a strip harvester and the stump jumper plough), later he was a bodybuilder under the name Sunshine Motor Cars Pty Ltd in Melbourne, Victoria (see separate Sunshine post). HV McKay has also been reported to have built a cycle car.
