ACI

Australian Consolidated Industries Limited (ACI) had a head office located in Melbourne, Victoria and existed from 1939 until 1982 (formally Australian Glass Manufacturers Ltd; became ACI Australia Limited).   Another ACI office was located in Sydney, New South Wales.

ACI endeavored to import (American) Willy's Automotive and Truck parts to start manufacture of engines and chassis in Australia.

The Australian Parliament had the Motor Vehicle Engine Bounty Act (1939); The Motor Vehicles Agreement Act (1940); The National Security Act; The Ottawa Agreement (with the United Kingdom Government) and World War 2 was starting ... a saga unfolded involving agreements/concessions, the Australian Government (Robert Menzies and later John Curtin as Prime Ministers); J.N. Lawson (Minister for Trade and Customs); ACI (William John Smith, Managing Director); Willy's (American auto company) ... No cars were built.
