This web-site presents the Ivan Hoffmann Collection of research materials about Australian Automobiles - clippings, brochures, diagrams, photos, articles etc., from early days until more recent. It qualifies as Australian if one or more components - body/engine/chassis were either prototype, designed, built, assembled, manufactured or made for use, only in Australia, (we also adopted a few New Zealand cars as Australian!). Enterprise

Enterprise (or Fred H Stewart Enterprise) was Australian built to by Don Harkness (of Harkness and Hillier) in 1931 to break the land speed record of a mile in 246 miles and hour, set by Australian, Sir Malcolm Campbell. Norman "The Wizard" Smith attempted a new record in New Zealand, in 1932 and reached 180 miles an hour. The Enterprise did break the record for 10 miles of 164 miles per hour, before a fire caused further problems.
