Standard

Standard was a British marque from 1903 until 1963, however they were imported as Complete Knock Downs (CKD) and assembled by AMI (Australian Motor Industries) from 1929 including the Standard Eight, Standard Vanguard (1958-1964), in Melbourne, Victoria. Standard also manufactured the Ferguson tractor.  Standard bought out Triumph in 1944.

After World War 2, Standard was in negotiations with Richards Industries (formerly TJ Richards) to supply car bodies, see separate TJ Richards / Richards post.

Standard didn't want to be thought of as merely "standard" so became Triumph, see Triumph post.
