Pender or Pender-Hertel was owned by John Pender, who went to Chicago, USA in 1896 and ordered a car made by Max Hertel car, which arrived in Victoria in 1898 making it one of the earliest cars in Australia, John Pender claimed that car was built to plans he submitted.
