This web-site presents the Ivan Hoffmann Collection of research materials about Australian Automobiles - clippings, brochures, diagrams, photos, articles etc., from early days until more recent. It qualifies as Australian if one or more components - body/engine/chassis were either prototype, designed, built, assembled, manufactured or made for use, only in Australia, (we also adopted a few New Zealand cars as Australian!). According to Gilltraps’ Australian Cars from 1879, Australian Automotive Manufacturers' Association (AAM) was part of the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce, located on the corner of Latrobe & Elizabeth Streets in Melbourne, Victoria. AAM produced only one vehicle, with a Chevrolet engine; was made with imported and local parts and exhibited in the 1929 (Melbourne) Royal Agricultural Show.
